Coronavirus – Timeline for all schemes and measures
1 July 2020
Flexible furlough arrangements become available under Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) version 2. The aspects are:
- Employees must have previously been furloughed for at least 21 consecutive days before 30 June 2020 to qualify
- Employees on flexible furlough can work part-time and the employer can claim a job retention scheme grant for the remaining hours
- The minimum furlough period is reduced to 1 week for the flexible furlough

Deadline for P11D and P11D(b) forms for 2019-2020
13 July 2020
Deadline for applications for the first Self Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant
14 July 2020
Claims open for the second and final Self Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant
31 July 2020
- Final day to submit claims for the CJRS for furlough periods ending on or before 30 June 2020
- Deadline for self-assessment second payment on account for 2019-2020 Income tax and Class 4 National Insurance. However, this deadline has been automatically deferred to 31 January 2021, therefore the self-assessment second payment on account for 2019-2020 can be deferred to 31 January 2021
1 August 2020
The government will continue to pay 80% of wages capped at £2,500 under the CJRS, however, employers will be required to pay NICs and pension contributions.
1 September 2020
CJRS grant taper down to 70% of employee wages, capped at £2,187.50 per month. Employers will be required to pay 10% to ensure furloughed employees continue to receive 80% of wages capped at £2,500. The employers will be required to pay NICs and pension contributions
30 September 2020
- Last day to apply for the Coronavirus Future Fund convertible loans
- Last day of the moratorium on “wrongful trading” provisions for insolvent companies
1 October 2020
CJRS grant taper down to 60% of employee wages, capped at £1,875 per month. Employers will be required to pay 20% to ensure furloughed employees continue to receive 80% of wages capped at £2,500. The employers will be required to pay NICs and pension contributions.
31 October 2020
Closing date for Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, disabling employers from placing staff on furlough leave after this date.
4 November 2020
Final day to arrange the transfer of the loans up to £50,000 from the following schemes into the Bounce Back Loan Scheme with your lender, if desired:
- Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS)
- Coronavirus Large Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CLBILS)
- Covid-19 Corporate Finance Facility
30 November 2020
Final day to make the CJRS claims for July to October 2020.
31 January 2021
- Deadline for filing and submitting self-assessments for 2019-2020
- Deadline for self-assessment payment for tax liabilities for 2019-2020
- Deadline for self-assessment first payment on account for 2020-2021 Income tax and Class 4 National Insurance
- Due date for the deferred self-assessment payment on account from 31 July 2020
31 March 2021
Deadline for VAT payments deferred between March and June 2020
