From June 8th when renting in the UK, Armenia, Austria, Balearics, Botswana, Canaries, Croatia, Hungary, Libya, Mauritius, Namibia, Oman, Portugal, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, and Tunisia all drivers with a UK licence (Great Britain) will need to provide evidence of any driving endorsements. This also applies if you have a paper licence that was issued before 1998.
The DVLA solution is for the customer to visit https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence with their driving licence number, national insurance number and post code. The customers then obtain a unique code that is case sensitive (mixture of upper & lower case) and valid for 72 hours only.
The customer presents that at the counter and the car rental company then enters the unique code and the last 8 digits of the licence number on https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence and views the customers endorsements, if any.
